Creating my first CLI Gem

For the past several months, I’ve been enrolled in the part-time online software engineering curriculum at the Flatiron School. My cohort and I have been learning the basics of coding with the Ruby language. For our first major project, we were given the task of creating our own simple Ruby CLI (command line interface) application. Basically, we were asked to create a service that would collect information from a user and display information in the CLI that is pulled from an external data source.

Why software engineering?

I sat to write this post about why I decided to pursue an education in software engineering with the belief that it would be a simple task. However, as I started to reminice on this question, I realized that it wasn’t as simple as saying I wanted to make more money or find a different career. I am in my 11th year since graduating college and I am just now starting to feel confident about what I want to do with my life.
